What is liposomal glutathione?

 

Liposomal Glutathione (lGSH) is an innovative nutritional supplement that combines the powerful antioxidant properties of glutathione (GSH) with the advanced drug delivery technology of liposomes.

Glutathione is the most abundant endogenous antioxidant in the human body. In some studies, oral administration of liposomal glutathione increased blood glutathione levels in healthy adults in just one week, with the increase reaching a maximum after two weeks, with glutathione levels increasing by 40% in whole blood, 25% in red blood cells, 28% in plasma, and 100% in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). These increases were accompanied by reductions in markers of oxidative stress, such as a 35% reduction in plasma 8-isoprostane and a 20% reduction in the oxidized/reduced glutathione ratio.

In addition to increasing glutathione levels and reducing oxidative stress, liposomal glutathione supplementation also had a positive effect on markers of immune function. These results suggest that liposomal glutathione can not only enhance the body's antioxidant defenses, but also enhance immune function, which is potentially important for maintaining health and preventing disease.

Overall, liposomal glutathione is an effective nutritional supplement that utilizes liposomal technology to increase the bioavailability of glutathione, helping to enhance the body's antioxidant capacity and immune function. As more research and clinical trials are conducted, liposomal glutathione is expected to become an important tool in supporting health and fighting disease.
