The latest research on PQQ may improve muscle strength?

 

A recent randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of the effects of a novel dietary supplement, Pyrroloquinoline Quinone disodium salt (PQQ), on muscle strength and physical performance in healthy volunteers. The 12-week study, involving 64 healthy Japanese adult male and female volunteers, was designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of daily supplementation with 21.5 mg of PQQ disodium salt.

The results of the study showed that compared with the placebo group, volunteers supplementing with PQQ improved in lower limb extensor strength (primary endpoint) and grip strength, 10-meter return walk test, 6-minute walk test, and 10-meter walk test (secondary endpoint). have significantly improved. In addition, the PQQ group also showed improvements in the 5-rep sit-to-stand test and the stand-and-walk test (exploratory endpoints). These results indicate that PQQ supplementation improves muscle strength and physical performance in healthy adults.

The study also evaluated the safety of PQQ, and the results showed that there were no serious adverse events in the PQQ group during the 12-week study period, confirming its safety. The study concluded that PQQ disodium salt, as a functional nutrient, can be safely supplemented in the daily diet, helping to maintain muscle strength and physical function, prevent sarcopenia, weakness and other degenerative diseases, and is suitable for young and old people crowd.

The findings provide scientific support for PQQ as a potential anti-aging and performance-enhancing supplement.
